Oscar: The Morning After

Overall, an enjoyable Oscar telecast last night. Other than the apparent rift between 12 Years A Slave screenwriter John Ridley and director Steve McQueen and U2 not winning Best Song for "Ordinary Love," no real surprises.

Gravity took home seven well-earned awards, including Best Director for Alfonso Cuaron, and academy members stepped up and did the right thing by bestowing Best Picture honors on 12 Years A Slave, a film truly deserving of that special, timeless moniker. If you haven't already experienced the film for yourself, you're in luck: it's out on video Tuesday.
